Pastor Jason Powell and his wife Mary have been married for over 19 years and have three incredible sons who are true miracles from God! Both Jason and Mary have been involved in ministry for over 20 years and find true joy and passion in serving Jesus through ministry to others.
Our Story
Serving Harvest Church
Pastor Jason served on staff at Harvest Christian Fellowship, in Riverside California, for 18 years. He served in a variety of different ministries and facets under the leadership of Pastor Greg Laurie. From being the High School Youth Pastor, to the Street Evangelism Pastor, to the Online Campus Pastor; Pastor Jason has worked tirelessly and passionately for the kingdom of God. He has a God-given passion to see the lost come into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ and to have their lives changed by the power of the Gospel. He has led countless groups of people out on the streets in Southern California, as well as numerous other large cities throughout the US, to share their faith and invite people to accept Jesus as their Savior. In addition to Street Evangelism, Pastor Jason has a heart to reach todays youth. As the High School Youth Pastor, Jason ministered to countless teenagers and was enabled by God to see many young people’s lives change and grow passionate about their relationship with Jesus. Through weekly Bible teaching, evangelistic outreaches and ministry nights; hundreds of youths lives where impacted for eternity! In the last year he also had the great opportunity to serve as the Online Campus Pastor at Harvest Christian Fellowship. Making people who were watching online feel wanted, welcomed and loved was the desire of his heart!
Mary Powell
Mary Powell loves serving alongside and supporting her husband in his ministry calling! She is a passionate stay at home wife and mother to their three boys and believes her first calling is to become the Proverbs 31 woman God has laid out in His Word. She homeschools their oldest son and is striving to raise the boys God has given them to be future men of God, who love Him with all their heart, soul and strength. In addition to her home ministry, Mary served for many years in the High School ministry at Harvest as a leader, mentor and teacher to the young women. She has a passionate heart to see young women become all that God has created them to be; woman who will impact future generations with the power of the Gospel! Mary has a heart for women of all ages and had the great blessing of being able to teach on rotation for Harvest’s Virtue Women’s Ministry. No matter what age, or demographic, Mary loves to talk to women, pray with women, and share with them God’s life-changing Word. Her desire is to see women follow God wholeheartedly, remain pure in an impure world and become the Proverbs 31 women God desires them to be!
The Call to Montgomery
Pastor Jason and Mary feel very much like Abraham, in Genesis chapter 12, when God called him to leave his father’s country and journey to a new place that He would show him. This is a giant step of faith, it’s a leap into the hands of God, trusting and believing that God is with them, that He is guiding them and that He will go with them and be with them every step of the way! They believe in the power of God and that He truly can do the impossible; not only in their lives, but in the lives of everyone that He has called them to go to. Jesus City Church is about one thing: JESUS. It is about people of every skin color, language and social status coming to Jesus and having their lives changed by the power of His blood. It’s about chains being broken, bondage’s of sin being destroyed and the power of Christ changing lives and changing a city: the city of Montgomery.
